Mr Norman Sheldon Sinness was born on October 10, 1907 in North Dakota, the son of Torger Olsen Sinness (1873–1960) and Isabel Martha (Sheldon) Sinness (1882–1952). He was married to Elizabeth Perry Chapple (28 Jan 1908–1 Sep 1977), who was born in Bathgate, Pembina County, North Dakota in 1908, the daughter of Benjamin Phillips Chapple (1864–1942) and Ernestine Stewartson (Safford) Chapple (1880–1964). Elizabeth died in Wheat Ridge, Colorado in 1977, but her place of burial has not been located. A chemical engineer with DuPont Company and living at 1311 Overton Street in Old Hickory, Davidson County, Tennessee, Norman was 56 years old and married when he had a heart attack and died on Thursday, February 13, 1964 at Madison Sanitarium & Hospital. Survivors included included his widow Mrs Elizabeth Chapple Sinness, daughters Miss Anne Sinness, who was a student at the University of Tennessee and Miss Marit Sinness, who was a student at Emory University in Atlanta, sisters Miss Jean Sinness and Mrs Lloyd J Kohl in North Hollywood, California and Mrs John C Haugland of Devils Lake, North Dakota and brother Dr Lester S Sinness, who was vice president of DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware. Funeral Services were held Monday morning, February 17th at Saint John's Episcopal Church in Old Hickory, and burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville. Much of the above is from his Death Certificate, with his daughter Anne Sinness of Old Hickory as the informant. Additional info is from his obituary in THE TENNESSEAN on Sunday, February 16, 1964 on page 32.
