- Dr. Glenn M. Haugan, 88, formerly of Watertown, SD, passed away peacefully at Huron Regional Medical Center on Monday, October 19, 2015. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown with Reverend Marion Paulis officiating. Music will be provided by AnnRae Herr.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral chapel.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD.
Glenn Maurice Haugan, the only son of Gerhardt and Florence (Patterson) Haugan was born February 6, 1927 in Watertown, South Dakota. After graduating from Watertown High School, Glenn enlisted and served in the United States Army Air Corps as an MP. He was honorably discharged in January of 1946.
After earning a degree in Dental Science from the University of Minnesota he returned to Watertown. He married his beloved wife, Deloris Arlene Hanson in 1950 at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown. Together they raised their daughter, Barbara in Watertown. Later Glenn opened his dental practice at Northside Clinic. Following his retirement in 1990, he remained busy with photography, creating fishing lures, studying Spanish, reloading shells and fishing with his grandchildren.
An avid outdoorsman, Glenn was a hunter and fisherman who could often be found at the Watertown Hunting Club or on the water at Lake Kampeska, where he and Dee built their home. Glenn and Dee later moved to Huron to be closer to their daughter.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Deloris of Huron; his daughter, Barbara (Dennis) Milbrandt of Huron; his grandson, Jason Milbrandt of Huron, his granddaughter, Shawna (David) Orwoll of Brooklyn Park, MN; and his great granddaughters, Kaylee and Karlee of Huron, and Rebecca of Highmore, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his cherished dog friends, Duke, Spike, Hurrah and Jessie.
