Marian W. Purdy, who gave private music lessons at her home, died in Vancouver on Wednesday, May 19, 1999. She was 88.
Mrs. Purdy was born Feb. 14, 1911, in Mount Vernon, Wash., and lived in Clark County 17 years before moving to Portland 42 years ago.
Survivors include two sons, Roger M. Lewis of Vancouver and David F. Lewis of McKinney, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Purdy received an education degree at the University of Washington and earned a musical degree at Pacific Lutheran College. She taught music for Camas schools before retiring in 1976 after 60 years.
Mrs. Purdy was a member of the Washington Education Association and the National Music Educators Association.
A service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, with burial in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Columbian, Friday, May 21, 1999
