- Marvin Ralph OTNESS Passed away on July 19,2002. Born May 8,19S1 in Seattle and raised in Ballard. Marv graduated from Ballard High School in 1969; served in the United States Coast Guard Reserves and made a career with the Seattle Fire Department, retiring in 1999 after more than 27 years service. He will be remembered by family, friends and neighbors as fun- loving, caring, kind and always willingto lend a hand to anyone. Marv was proud of his Norwegian heritage and loved the out-of-doors; working on cars; and using his gift of mechanical ability. Survivors include his parents Ralph and Clara Otness, Seattle; sister Karen (David) Grunerud of Camano Island; spouse Suzanne, daughter Oriana, stepson, Ron of Whidbey Island and numerous other relatives. Marv is also survived by his companion Julie Prantil, Seattle. A Celebration of Marv's Life will be held on Sunday, August 18th, from l to 4 p.m. at Ray's Boathouse, Northwest Room, 6049 Seaview Ave. N. W., Seattle. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Oriana's College Fund at Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union, Medic One or the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Wiggen & Sons Funeral Home.
