Alice Summers, age 92, died on Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, peacefully in her home in Spearfish.
In keeping with her wishes, her body will be cremated and no services are planned. Memorials may be directed to the Spearfish Public Library.
She was born Oct. 1, 1907 in Redfield, S.D., to Anton and Anna (Imster) Sather. She attended grade and high school in Presho, graduating from Nettleton College in Sioux Falls in 1927.
She married Kenneth Stewart in 1938 at Rapid City. Following the death of her husband in 1939, she returned to Presho and was a secretary/teller in the Farmers State Bank for 13 years.
In 1951, she moved to Rapid City and was office manager for Seeleys until 1954 when she married Harold Summers. They owned and operated the Tower Supply Company. Mr. Summers died in 1959. Upon retirement after eight years as office manager for Third Generation, she moved to Spearfish in 1976 and lived in the Cedar Apartments.
Mrs. Summers was a past Worthy Matron of the Silver Leaf Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Presho; a Girl Scout leader; and a Sunday school teacher in the American Lutheran Church. In Spearfish, she was a member of the R.S.V.P.
She is survived by her daughter, Sonja Stewart Larsen of Lake Shore, Minn.; step-daughter, Sandra Summers Robison of Littleton, Colo.; a brother Dr. J. Henry Sather of Macomb, Ill. and a sister, Hilde, (Mrs. Paul) Rasmusson of Bismarck, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, an infant son, two brothers, and two sisters.
