HINTON, Iowa -- Ida Corinne Junck, 77, of Mission, Texas, formerly of Hinton, entered the gates of heaven Saturday, May 5, 2007, following a brief illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. David Schoop officiating. Burial will be in Rademacher Cemetery, Hinton. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, 3220 Stone Park Blvd., Sioux City.
Ida was born to Carl and Lila Gunderson in Irene, S.D. on Feb. 8, 1930, and was one of nine brothers and sisters.
On Aug. 14, 1948, she became the wife of Donald Norman Junck. They began their blessed marriage in Sioux City and after one year, they moved to Hinton, where they began farming. In 1970, the couple moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., where they resided until 1990, at which time they retired to Mission, Texas.
In addition to being a good wife and mother, she was employed at Johnson Biscuit Company and Weller Fishing Tackle, respectively. Later, when the family moved to Sioux Falls, she used her sewing skills and was employed with Marie's Draperies. She loved to sew, do stitchery and various crafts. While on the farm, the couple had a large garden and she did a lot of canning.
She was a great cook and loved to entertain and share her favorite recipes. One of her best known meals was her fried fish, fish that the couple caught on one of their fishing trips up north. Before her recent illness, she walked almost daily, played golf and did water aerobics. She learned to play bridge after retirement and the couple always had time for a variety of card games.
She enjoyed caring for her family, friends and neighbors. She loved the Lord and was raised and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She loved Bible study, Ladies Aid and Circle. She looked forward to her eternal life with God.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; her daughters, Marla Martin of Mission, Texas, and Renee Thornton of McAllen, Texas; a son Donald David Junck of Sioux Falls, S.D.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Michael.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jeremiah Martin, Christopher Weeldreyer and Aaron Junck, her grandsons-in-law, Jeff Brechler, JJ Vavra, Jesse Odegaard and Ryan Getz, and her godson, Robert Taylor.
